Hi all
After three days of agonising decision making by a few impartial friends and myself, I can finally reveal which entries to my Long Exposure Competition have won the prizes.
Before I do though, I really need to say a huge THANK YOU to all those who took the time to submit. Over the coming weeks I will be sending a note to each and every one of you with detailed feedback on exactly what I thought about your submitted photo(s). I had a number of criteria that I was looking for whilst going through the entries. These were:
Creativity - I wanted to see something that I don't see everyday.
Execution and Composition - Was the image well planned and carried out
Impact/First impression - Did it make me go "Now THAT, is cool"
Theme - The theme of the competition was Long Exposure. Was a long exposure merely necessary to get the shot, or did the artist go that bit extra and really embrace the theme.
It was not an easy decision at all to arrive at the winners. I was very impressed with all the entries and I wish I could give all the artists a prize. But I can't. So...........
The winner of first place and a 12 month premium membership and an unframed 12x18 inch print of my image "The Sentinel" is with the image "Last Vestiges of Hope"
I kept on coming back to this image again and again, and it above all the rest, fulfilled the criteria I was looking for the best. Congratulations to Aztil.
The two runners up and the winners of a three month premium membership each are and with their entries:

Congratulations to you both.
was also the winner of the Leasha's Choice Award with his image "Clouds and Stars" and receives an additional three months premium membership
was kind enough to donate a three month membership as a prize. So a big THANK YOU goes to Leasha for that.
Also up for grabs was an "Encouragement Award." This would go to the image that I thought would benefit the most from having a bit of my knowledge imparted on it. This was always going to go to an astrophotography photo, because, well, lets face it, that's what I do and love. And the winner is...........
with his image "Galaxies in the backyard"
Grant and I will be corresponding soon and I will be imparting my knowledge of night sky photography and processing on him.
Like I said: It was a really tough choice and I wish I could have given everyone a prize. But I had to choose and the judges decision is final. Please do check out the work of all the artists who submitted and throw some love their way. All the entries......

Timelapse Video
Hello all
I'm still alive. I know I have not been very active here lately. My daytime work has been ridiculously busy for the past month or so and that wont change for the foreseeable future. Still, could be worse I guess......
Just wanted to pop in briefly to announce that I have completed my first ever timelapse video. If you have followed my work for a while you will know that one of my favorite places to go and image the night sky from is Mt Buffalo near where I live in Australia. I recently put together a collection of timelapse sequences from Mt Buffalo that I have gathered over the past few years. This is my first go at pu
6th Daily Deviation and why I might leave DA
Hello all,
Finally have a little bit of time to catch up on all things DA. It was a great surprise to receive my 6th Daily Deviation a couple of weeks ago for my image "Before The Storm"
I once again must give a huge  and a big THANK YOU to the legendary Nancy `Anoya (https://www.deviantart.com/anoya) for featuring the image and an equally big thanks to :iconRazielMB: for suggesting it.
On a sour note, I am so disappointed in how DA displayed my last image "Burning The Midnight Oil" that I am thinking about leaving here for good. For someone who almost shoots exclusively night time images where subtle shadow detail is important for the overall feel of the
5th Daily Deviation and Interviews
Hello all
After basically pulling an all nighter last night taking images and conducting a night sky photography workshop, I woke up at lunchtime today to discover a very pleasant surprise. I have been awarded my 5th Daily Deviation for my image "Taste The Rainbow"
Huge thanks must go to ~Laurelin-CosPlay (https://www.deviantart.com/laurelin-cosplay) for suggesting the image and the legendary Nancy :iconAnoya: for featuring it as a DD
It is quite surprising to me how much this image has been accepted by the public, both on here and elsewhere on the net. For a long time I hesitated to even upload it as I thought it was just another standard "Milkyway Bow" image that are a
